Maroochy Shire Hall was opened on 6 August 1960 by the Governor of Queensland, Sir Henry Abel Smith. It replaced the earlier Town Hall which was destroyed by fire in 1948. Sadly the Maroochy Shire Hall was again destroyed by fire in 1986 and was replaced in 1991 by a new building called Centenary Square.
