The Queensland International Exhibition, held from 22 March to 28 July 1897, showcased Queensland’s agricultural and mineral wealth to the public. This included a a cake of retorted gold from Gympie weighing 2,679 oz.
Some of the exhibits later went to the the Greater Britain Exhibition in London in 1899 and the Glasgow International Exhibition in 1901.
