THEY’RE BITING
September is usually a quiet month for the angler, a between seasons period, but In spite of this a few creeks have been well filled. Good catches of up to 80 bream have been reported from Hollyweli most of which have been caught on or near the oyster banks on mullet gut.
Bream and whiting are also being taken in the Nerang River. Mr. Jackson and a friend landed 55 good fish of these varieties at the weekend near Surfers Paradise.
Other good class whiting have been taken from near Meyers Ferry and from near the Bamboos.
A Brisbane visitor, Mr. Stevens, spent a couple of profitable hours fishing at the Nerang bar the other day. He went home with 8 flathead ranging from 1lb 7 oz s to 81bs 2ozs. Another fisherman was seen with a 11½lb flathead landed near Jubilee Bridge.
