The Blacktip Rockcod can be recognised by the dark tips to the spinous dorsal fin. The species occurs in tropical marine waters of the Indo-Pacific.
T C Marshall was the Government Ichthyologist at that time and had an active involvement in government publications regarding the identification of Queensland fishes.
Most of the iIlustrations for Grant’s (1965) “Guide to Fishes” were created by Frank Olsen.
