A DEPUTATION, consisting of Mr. E. J. Stevens, M.L.A., Mr. W. Stephens, chairman of the Nerang Divisional Board, Messrs. C. P. Cox, R. Cooper, E. Cooper, and J. H. Maynard, waited on the Colonial Secretary on Wednesday last to protest against the proposal of the Government to erect the new police quarters and lockup for Nerang on a portion of the school reserve in that township.
The deputation was introduced by Mr. Stevens, M.L.A. who presented a petition signed by 140 resident ratepayers in Nerang, embodying the following resolutions, which were passed at a public meeting held at Dell’s Hall, Nerang, on 14th June :— “That this meeting hears with alarm of the intention of the Government to appropriate a part of the Nerang School Reserve for police purposes, and hereby protests against any such encroachment being
