John Gerard Anderson (1836-1911) was an educationalist who joined the Queensland Board of General Education in 1862. He became the first district inspector of schools in 1863, senior inspector in 1869, acting general inspector in 1874 and general inspector in 1876. He was Director of Education and Under Secretary of the Department of Public Instruction from 1878 to 1904.
