Nudgee Beach School Additions
The school buildings at Woolooman are to be removed and re erected at Nudgee Beach, to provide additonal accommodation at the Nudgee Beach State School, said the Minister for Public Works (Mr Bruce) today. He added that the work would cost about £373 and would be carried out by contract.
The Cracow State School would be removed and re-crccted on a new site the Minister also said. Provision was made for improvements to ventilation, external painting of all buildings and internal painting of the school building and residence and the estimated expenditure was £1,798.

£30,961 IMPROVEMENT IN SCHOOL
THE first school built in the Valley cost £39/14/3. The new one opened by the Education Minister (Mr. Bruce) in Brookes Street, Valley, yesterday afternoon cost £31,000.
The new building contains six large, well equipped, and well-ventilated classrooms, and will accommodate 250 pupils. Built of brick, with plaster facings, the school embraces the latest in modern designs to ensure first-class conditions for pupils and teachers.
There are ample amenities for physical training and recreation.
The Works Minister (Mr. Power) said at the opening ceremony that the new school was one answer to those who criticised the State Government’s school building programme.
Mr. Bruce said that war and scholastic records showed clearly that the Queensland standard of education was as high as in any other part of Australia.

SUGAR SEASON. HAMBLEDON MILL. CUTTING COMMENCED.
With the best part of 400 cutters signed on, the sugar season in the Hambledon (C.S.R.) mill area will be in full swing by the end of the week. Some of the cutters started on Tuesday to give the mill a supply to test its machinery. More cutters began yesterday and the mill will commence its crushing to-day. The remainder of the cutters will have begun work by Monday- next.
