School Building Addition Opening
WYNNUM: The recently constructed portion of the Wynnum Central State School is to be officially opened by the Minister for Public Instruction, Mr. Bruce, at 2.30 p.m. tomorrow.
Items will be given by the schoolchildren’s choir and other astists, and the Wynnum Ex-Serivceman’s Legion Band.

The monthly meeting of the Kairi District Progress Association was held at the Hotel Kairi on Tuesday, 12th May, at 8 p.m.
After formal business was transacted, the following correspondence was dealt with.
From Public Estate Improvement Office, through Mr. Gillies, M.L.A., to teh effect that the construction of Danbulla Bridge, etc., would probably begin in May.

REGULATING CHINESE GARDENERS
By-laws made at the instance of the Commissioner of Public Health, under Section 133 of the Health Act of 1900, for preventing the spread of infectious diseases, have been approved. The by-laws are in force over the while of Queensland, and provide that vegetables shall not be stored or kept in any house occupied by market gardeners; or in any place but a well-ventilated shed. Vegetables are not to be washed in water receiving the drainage from slaughter yards or other similar establishments, or in water otherwise polluted. Any vehicle used for the conveyance of vegetables must be kept clean. Manure, offal, or similar matter shall not be buried near the banks of creeks, but shall be mixed with earth and buried in deep trenches as far as possible form the creeks. From 1860, blankets were distributed annually on the Queen’s Birthday by the colonial government to aboriginals. It was initially conducted by medical staff and then by pastoralists, but due to abuses of the system by the late 1860s the blankets were instead distributed by police magistrates at local court houses.

COOLUM—NOOSA ROAD
The Chairman of the Noosa Shire Council (Councillor McAnaly), Councillor E. Bennett, and the Overseer (Mr. A. W. Dan) made an inspection of the track between Coolum and Noosa recently. The report says the track traverses bottle-brush country and is approximately four miles in the Noosa Shire, three of which are in timber reserve No. 977.
Councillor Bennett, in address ing the Noosa Council on the subject, said the road would be too costly to construct now, and at least £10,000 would be needed to build a reasonable road.
Supporting Councillor Bennett’s opinion the Chairman said that both resorts were connected with the Bruce Highway by main road.
