On Monday 5 May 1947, train E91 derailed at Camp Mountain on the Dayboro line. 16 people died and 38 were injured. It was Queensland’s worst train track.

After serving in both world warrs, Lieutenant General Sir John Lavarack became Governor of Queensland in 1946. He was the first Australian-born governor of Queensland and the second Australian-born person to hold a governorship in Australia.

28 HOMES APPROVED
The Executive Council today authorised the Queensland Housing Commission to accept tenders for the erection
of 28 State rental houses at Carina.
One tender of £31,769 is for the erection of 15 houses at Maughan, Rea and Chataway Streets, Carina Estate: and an other is of £29;175 for 13 timber houses at Winstanley Street and Creek Road. Carina Heights.
