FLOODED

When the Albert River rose to flood heights this morning the approaches on the Yatala side were quickly covered, and held up all traffic in bound from the South Coast to Brisbane. Picture taken from the nearby railway bridge shows the flooded area.

Sugar Harvest

Though the showers over the past few days have slightly affected operations in the canefields the sugar harvest is proceeding apace in the Hambledon area.. A mishap in the mill caused a couple of days’ delay in the Hambledon Mill last week, but it is expected that the crushing season will end in about a fortnight.

The Wheat Crops.

Harvesting operations are going on briskly in many parts of the Warwick district (says Saturday’s “Warwick Argus”). Starting along the Swan Creek road, Mr. Addison Free has two large paddocks down. The owner of Green Hill Farm computes the yield of the paddock he was cutting on Wednesday to be eight bags to the acre.

That was putting it at an estimate allowing for an advance. He describes the crop as the second best he ever grew. It has been harvested in a healthy state, and free from the blighting Influence of the rust. All along the road to Yangan the harvester Is at work.
