Lamington National Park Tracks

One of the most discussed subjects in pre-war years was that of access roads to Lamington National Park and whether Beaudesert should have priority for a service run, or whether Canungra should have the run through to the Park.

The purchase by the Main Roads Commission of Lahey’s Road at Cainbabel dampened the spirits of Beaudesert, but local enthusiasm for hiking, or interest in the National Park, practically ceased during the war years.

However, it appears one body, the Beaudesert National Fitness Committee, has taken up the initiative, and we hope other organisations will follow suit. The interest in park tours by the Beaudesert Club is to be admired.

Quite a lot of information can be gathered in the way of botany study and zoology, while the camping tours and hikes are healthy recreations.

Naturally, the hikers get to see where most
