THE GOVERNOR’S GUARD

The interest of the Governor (Sir Leslie Wilson) in his old regiment – the Royal Marines – was shown yesterday, when the Marines from H.M.S. Sussex provided the guard of honour at the Exhibition on the occasion of the official opening. Immediately he descended from the Vice-Regal car Sir Leslie made his way to the officer of the guard, shook hands warmly, and congratulated him on the appearance of the men. Subsequently he walked between the ranks and, noticing a string of medals on one member of the party, conversed with him for a few seconds. He also addressed the guard, and said he appreciated very highly the compliment paid to him by providing a guard of honour from the regiment with which h. was so proud to have been associated for so many years. When the opening ceremony ended
