Hose Laying Fire Engine.
A new British hose-laying fire engine capable of carrying over a mile of 3 1/2 inch rubber lined canvas hose will go to aid Trinidad’s programme of fire service expansion, to cover busy industrial cities, small towns and villages on the islands of Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean.
The new fire-engine has joined company with other British appliances in the Trinidad Fire Brigade, a 60ft. turntable ladder, a dual-purpose pump and wheeled escape ladder, and a powerful 600 gallon water tender, which carries a rear mounted fire pump, first aid, hose reel, ladder and searchlight.
In the new hose layer, the lengths are stored already coupled, in narrow compartments which form the rear section of the vehicle. Mounted on the roof are monitors for delivering water fed from a turbine pump mounted in the centre of the vehicle.
