Marshall Street, Goondiwindi, 1949

Queensland State Archives posted a photo:

The town was originally named Gundiwindi, meaning “the resting place of the birds”. Although officially renamed Goondiwindi in 1861 it is still prounounced “Gundiwindi” to this day.
